Playstation 3 final release date announced.

New flagship among Samsung LCD TVs

Many probably still remember that before CES '09 Samsung somehow hinted that it would soon bring to the market a new Premium LCD TV, which, in theory, should come to replace the LNA950 series. According to CNet News and FlatPanelsHD.com, in this case we are talking about the B9000 series, which will be released during this year.

This series will be presented by two models with screen sizes of 46 and 55 inches. Their official names are UN46B9000 and UN55B9000. Both models have a LED-based backlight system. Unlike other models with a Samsung LED backlight, they use local dimming (local dimming) technology rather than “edge-lit” (edge lighting). Moreover, the models from the B9000 series are also distinguished by very thin cases, since almost all of their electronic stuffing is in the so-called “external media box”, which are connected to the displays via a wireless connection. According to preliminary data, they are 3 cm thinner than LCD TVs equipped with edge-lit LED backlighting. Apparently, Samsung really liked the models from the Panasonic Z1 and LG 55LHX series. In all other respects, the models from the B9000 series are practically the same as the UN-B8000 series and also support widget (mini-applications) from Yahoo. It is worth recalling that at the moment the best LCD TVs in the Samsung model range are models from the A950 series. They are also equipped with a LED backlight type of local dimming. By the way, in the reviews of CNet last year, they rank second in image quality after the Sony XBR8. As for the predecessors of the B9000, models from the B7000 series, according to CNet experts, they have some drawbacks associated with uneven lighting and certain fluctuations in the operation of the LED backlight system.

It is unclear when the debut of the B9000, but according to CNet, it will happen around September. Televisions, as you might guess, will be very expensive.
