LG Display Revealed "The World's Subtlest LCD TVs"

As it became known, today LG Display officially announced the release of two new LCD TVs, writes Slash Gear. New items have a screen size of 42 and 47 inches diagonally, respectively, and have an extremely small thickness - 5.9 cm (0.23 inch). In addition, they can still boast a LED backlight system with LEDs located around the perimeter of the screen (edge-lit). According to LG Display, thanks to the Light Guide Sheet (LGS) technology, its specialists managed to reduce the thickness of TVs by more than half.

In addition to extremely thin cases, new LCD TVs LG still have a number of remarkable advantages. Their main technical characteristics are as follows: the refresh rate of the screen is 120 Hz, the brightness is 450 nits, the response time is 8 ms, the color gamut is 80 percent according to the NTSC standard. It is worth recalling that these samples are not only thin, but also light: their weight is only 6.1 and 7.3 kg. Thus, they are almost two times lighter than conventional LCD TVs with CCFL-type backlight systems (based on cold cathode tubes) and with such a screen size.

Unfortunately, not a word about the cost and availability of the above models.
