Sony taught the octopus to photograph tourists

Осьминог

As you know, octopuses are very intelligent sea creatures. The cephalopods from New Zealand became the first octopus in the world to learn to photograph. Sony and the SEA LIFE Aquarium in Auckland have launched a project called Octographer. With the support of a professional animal trainer, the research team trained the octopus nicknamed Rambo to shoot visitors on camera.

In this video, Rambo demonstrates his photography skills:

The octopus was given access to the Sony TX30 compact camera, mounted outside of a water tank and attached to an extension with a shutter button. When visitors appear on the background of a special poster, Rambo releases the shutter with the help of a tentacle. And voila! Your portrait is ready!

Here are a few works made by Rambo during the admission of elementary school students:

For each photograph of Rambo tourists will be charged $ 2. According to the Petapixel resource, all proceeds go to conservation programs that the organization is conducting.

The octopus took only three attempts to learn how to photograph. “He learns faster than a dog, and in some cases even faster than a man,” said trainer Mark Vetta.
