There are a lot of films telling about the contact of people and newcomers. In most such films we see how aliens try to destroy humanity, and brave American military men save our planet from invasion. There are exceptions in this genre. Remember at least "Close contacts of the third degree" Steven Spielberg or a wonderful film "Cocoon". The new film directed by Denis Villeneuve with the title "Arrival" (not to be confused with the 1996 film of the same name with Charlie Sheen) will tell us one more story of "first contact". And we will see all this with the eyes of the doctor-linguist, who was instructed to understand: with what intentions the aliens arrived on Earth.

Canadian director Denis Villeneuve gained fame thanks to the psychological thriller "Captive" (2013) with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, as well as the criminal thriller "The Assassin" (2015) with Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro. Villeneuve is perfectly able to create a depressing, disturbing atmosphere on the screen, which is gradually transferred to the viewer and keeps him in suspense until the last seconds of the film. And what could be more tense than not knowing why several giant spaceships of aliens arrived on our planet?

The role of doctor-linguist Louise Banks in the film will be performed by actress Amy Adams ("Big Eyes", "Fighter", "Man of Steel"). It is her government that the US will instruct to get in touch with aliens and understand what they want from humanity. Every 18 hours an entrance opens in the alien ship, as if inviting the ambassadors of the Earth to enter.
