Japanese NHK first in the world starts broadcasting in 8K format

The first tests of signal transmission in the Super Hi-Vision format successfully passed yesterday. During the experiment, television content was transmitted alternately in 4K and 8K resolutions. Among other things, the broadcast will be accompanied by audio in the format 22.2, supporting surround systems with 24 speakers.

Already today, the broadcaster will conduct a live broadcast of the concert of the famous Japanese singer Kyary Pamyu Pamyu performing in the genre J-pop, will show archival entries from the opening of the London 2012 Olympics, as well as recording a symphony concert based on works by Beethoven under the direction of Seiji Ozawa. NHK will broadcast in 8K format from 10 am to 5 pm inclusive.
