Playstation 3 final release date announced.

Facebook management decided to close Oculus Story Studio

It seems that the company Oculus continues to pursue problems. Not so long ago, we told you that it was left by the founder Palmer Lucky, and even the court found the company guilty of stealing intellectual property, obliging the plaintiffs to pay 500 million dollars. This time the Facebook management made a difficult decision to close the internal studio of Story Studio, which is responsible for creating short VR movies and other entertainment content with a narrative component. This was announced today by the press Jason Rubin, the former founder of the Naughty Dog studio, and now the Vice President of Oculus in the direction of user content.

Studio Story Studio was founded in 2015, and the first project was a short Lost about a lost in the woods giant robot, as if derived from the cartoon Iron Giant. Then came the children's interactive cartoon about the charming hedgehog named Henry, who brought the studio to the prestigious golden statuette "Emmy." The latest project Story Studio to date has become a surprisingly beautiful story about a mother and daughter called Dear Angelica, in which the voice acting was attended by actress Gina Davis. This cartoon was completely drawn by hand inside the virtual reality on its own Quill software, created by studio specialists (anyone can download it, by the way).

"Two years ago, at the dawn of modern VR technologies, Facebook founded Story Studio to demonstrate to everyone the endless possibilities of a new form of visionary art: real-time narrative. The studio specialists created a series of short films that pushed many famous directors to try themselves in a completely new VR-direction. Now we are on the verge of a new chapter in the development of virtual reality, so it is vitally important for us to redistribute resources in order to create the most comfortable ecosystem. After lengthy discussions, we decided to shift the focus from internal content development to supporting external studios. That's why Studio Story Studio will have to close, "- says the official press release.

Oculus will indeed continue to invest in the development of content for virtual reality. In the very near future, Jason Rubin promised to invest more than $ 50 million in creating various experimental VR-content. These money will go directly to artists and animators who will be ready to create something exclusive for the helmet Oculus Rift. Former employees of the closed studio will not be left without work, they will be reassigned to new positions within the main company Oculus.
