Well, I got to almost serious technique. Well, more precisely, relatively serious, because, as before, the main criterion for choosing my price, and I still try to consider the models of the initial price segment. But this time I have on the review an updated version of a compact quadric with brushless motors from MJX.
I think that the MJX company and its Bugs series do not need a presentation, the "senior" beetle has become for many people an affordable ticket to the world of flights, offering an excellent price-performance ratio. The Mini series, which soon appeared, was already positioned by the company as a racing copter. Of course, for a full professional solution Bugs Mini is very far, but as a simulator or a trial version for beginners, this model will be just a godsend.
As it is easy to understand from the title, this drone is already the third revision, in this version the support of the so-called ACRO mode in which the quadric does not try to stabilize its position with the aid of gyroscopic sensors has been added and relies solely on control from the console. Fly in this mode is difficult (I have not yet mastered it fully), but it is used to perform flips "manually" and other acrobatics. The mode is turned on in several steps: the console must be turned off, one battery removed (without this it really does not work), switch the toggle switch to the right of the left stick, return the battery to the place and turn it back on. As you can see, on the move "on the move" speech does not even come, but on the other hand - but this mode will not turn on suddenly.
Since the copter is sufficiently miniature (240 mm × 240 mm × 65 mm), its packing is also very compact. Fortunately, MJX is quite familiar with the realities of post-Soviet postal space, so the company has not stinted on the inserts of foam plastic, reliably protecting the content. Inside, except for the quadric, you will find:

- 4 spare propellers

- cable and battery charger
Traditional advice for non-professionals from the same non-professional: immediately install a protection. Unfortunately, the protective "fences" in this model are fixed with a simple latch and in serious collisions tend to fly (at least in my case). Fortunately, usually "the apple does not fall far from the apple tree", and it is not necessary to find and establish protection against labor.
Traditionally, the first thing that you have to do immediately (well, except how to buy 4 AA batteries for the remote), - charge the battery. To do this, a U-shaped plastic adapter is used, to which is connected a charging cord with a USB connector, which you need to plug into any suitable power supply and leave it there until the LED indicator goes out. Charging takes about 3 hours, it takes a little less than 10 minutes of flight, so I advise you to immediately take care of a spare battery (or a couple), however, more than 3 of them are unlikely to be, half an hour of flight is often enough to " saturate. "
If we talk about design, then MJX can already be safely attributed to companies that have "their own face", and in the case of Bugs 3 Mini, the face is very pretty. The body made of high-quality plastic (several large accidents confirm this), its own design (at least I did not find the "source of inspiration"), not a lurid coloring. Quadric is quite aggressive, which is facilitated by a combination of black with red decorative elements. In front of the "muzzle" is a lens, but there is no camera in the base version of this copter, only a flashlight, shining forward. However, if you want to try yourself in FPV flights, you can buy the camera separately and install it yourself, everything you need in Bugs 3 Mini is there. Since the copter is compact, there are no landing supports in it, it sits on the usual projections in the lower part of the rays, so it's better to take off from a place devoid of grass cover.
The console as a whole is also very good. Of course, the sleek-rounded design looks a little "pop", but in the hands it lies comfortably and is managed very comfortably. The layout as a whole is standard. The left stick controls the height and turn in the horizontal plane, the right one is responsible for the movements. Since the drone does not have a height sensor, the vertical stroke of the left stick is not spring loaded. In addition to the sticks, there are:
- three trimmers (sorry for the pun), allowing you to equalize the flight in those cases where the copter is trying somewhere to spontaneously swim away
- power-on slider
- button to turn off the backlight (only the illumination of the beams, the front "headlight" is always on)
- lock button (about it a little lower)
- speed button (fast and very fast)
- photo (if you install the camera)
- ACRO switch mode
- button flips, carefully hidden on the back of the remote
The second button, symmetrical to the button of the flips, is a common stub, the same fate befalls the "twist" in the upper right corner of the console.
One of the characteristic features of this model is "talkativeness", and the copter and the console are equipped with speakers, and they very much like to sound the beeps. By the way, in this model even the rudiments of telemetry are realized, if the console often sings, then your Bugs 3 Mini is about to fly away from the zone of confident reception, if the constant squeak is slightly slower - then you will soon have a battery in the drone, and it's time to think about the soft landing.
In general, how can we fly?
First, you need to "pair" the console and copter. To do this, you need to hold down the button with a red lock and turn on the remote control, which at the same time a little popishchit (the nature of the squeak depends on the mode of ACRO / ANGLE). Next - you need to include the quad itself. Since the switch is not provided for it, you just need to insert the battery until it clicks. If you turn it on for the first time - do not forget to remove the rubber protective cap from the contacts inside the case. It also turns off the battery. After first switching on the Bugs 3 Mini and a series of joyous punctuation of the console and copter, you need to calibrate the gyroscopes. To do this, place the aircraft on a horizontal surface and slide both stickers to the right down. If the lighting of the front ones has stopped blinking, everything, you are ready to take off.
To start, move the left stick as far down and press the button with the lock, the motors are started and you (or rather your copter) are ready to fly. Running forward, I will say that the locking (turning off the motors) is done by long pressing the red button, the height stick should be in the lower position.
In general, this quadric is really fast. MJX did not economize and equipped it with powerful brushless motors, which pleases both in terms of aerobatics and durability. Even in the "low consumption" mode, the B3 Mini is very fast, and switching to the high mode makes it a real jogger, capable of even overcoming strong enough gusts (although here everything depends on the skill of the pilot). The copter is also controlled perfectly, the responsiveness of the controls is at a very good level, and the range of the equipment exceeds 200 meters (but slightly below 300), which is a very decent result for a quadric designed for flying by the eye.
Perhaps, it was with this copter that I finally got the full sense of speed and sense of control, which is necessary for piloting. Of course, the ACRO mode remains terra incognita, filled with dragons and accidents, but the flights in the usual mode, named in the Angle Mode instruction, are getting better, even with obstacles and complicating the "route".
Separately, by the way, I note the excellent ability to twist flips in automatic mode, "Mini-beetle" tumbles almost on the spot and thus almost does not lose altitude.
In general, the copter of MJX clearly turned out, the company once again proved that it is capable of making not only cheap toys. Of course, to the self-assembly racing models and expensive solutions for many hundreds of bucks Bugs 3 Mini is still far away, but for the "advanced amateur" it's just a great model. If you use the term from the camera world, I would call this model a pro-Yumi quadrocopter.
