Game disco: an overview of the keyboard HyperX Alloy Elite RGB

For real gamers, HyperX does not need to be introduced - for a long time now it has been manufacturing high-quality gaming accessories. Especially, many are familiar with HyperX Alloy Elite, because this keyboard has repeatedly been recognized as one of the best in e-sports, despite its weight and dimensions. And recently HyperX pleased us with the release of a special version of Alloy Elite - a mechanical version with RGB-backlighting.

Supplied HyperX Alloy Elite RGB in a stylish beautifully decorated box, inside - another black box where the keyboard and accessories are neatly packed. In the set put a plastic stand, an additional 8 keycases with a tool to remove them. You could do without them, but still nice. By the way, in order not to scratch the keys, the tool should be used with extreme caution.

The device itself is a full-sized 104-key mechanical keyboard with additional keys. The ones on the left are responsible for the backlight, on the right (including the adjustment wheel) for the sound. The layout of the keys is sure to be appreciated by fans of the "American" layout, which differs in the same length of the lower keys, a narrow Enter key and custom sets of keycases.

The keyboard weighs almost 1.5 kg (although, to be honest, there is more), the length is 444 mm, the width is 227 mm, and the height is 36 mm. To connect the keyboard to the computer, use a 1.8 m wire with two USB connectors: one feeds directly to the keyboard itself, the other - to power the built-in USB port, which is located in front. The USB port, by the way, was not placed for beauty: it can be used to charge other devices, connect the same mouse or flash drive.

In the HyperX Alloy Elite RGB, the Cherry MX Red switches are used (resource is 50 million presses, the total stroke is 4 mm, the stroke before the trigger is 2 mm, the pressing force before the trigger is 45 g), MX Blue and MX Brown, without NKRO mode support too, was not done (pressing all the keys at the same time).

The device looks modern and stylish: the top panel of the keyboard is made of steel, the lower part is nicely rounded to support the fingers when printing. In general, the build quality on the traditional HyperX level is high. Yes, the bottom of the keyboard is too good to collect fingerprints, but if you recall the same smartphones, it's not such a big problem - in extreme cases you can always use a damp cloth.

Separate attention deserves the top panel of the keyboard - it is as if "attached" to the main part of the RGB-strip, covered with translucent acrylic. It is made, however, from plastic - here the metal, apparently, was not enough. The wheel of the volume adjustment has a smooth stroke.

Yes, the membrane keys are a little "staggered", and the plastic stands do not look very premium, but despite this, the keyboard is very well assembled. The usual proportions of keys allow you to equip the keyboard with additional keypads. With the localization, the developers also guessed: due to the fact that the Russian characters are located to the right (and less), and the English symbols are to the left and higher, both symbols are perfectly read at any time of the day, especially with backlighting.

Of course, the main feature of HyperX Alloy Elite RGB is the backlight. We do not lie, if we say that this is one of the best solutions on the market, and I would like every mechanical keypad to have such a highlight. It is not very bright, but it is characterized by high juiciness and saturation. A similar feeling can be experienced, for example, in the new Mercedes Benz cars, which also feature noble lighting.

Installed on the keyboard board SMD-LEDs evenly distribute light through the transparent case of the switches. Lighting settings "out of the box" really do not spoil the truth: three levels of brightness, three versions of the backlight: "wave" from left to right plus two static modes. Want more? Forward to download HyperX NGenuity Software.

HyperX NGenuity Software is a utility designed specifically to enhance the capabilities and configuration of HyperX Alloy Elite RGB. Its main task is to extend lighting effects like "HyperX Flame", when activated, printing on the keyboard turns into a real home disco. In addition, the software allows you to customize the game mode and profile (for example, a set for Dota or Counter Strike), record or create your own macros. You can understand the utility in 5-10 minutes, adjust everything to yourself once - and forget. And then, except add new macros when you exit cool games.

I almost forgot one of the most important questions that are asked when choosing a keyboard - and what about the sound? HyperX Alloy Elite RGB is surprisingly quiet, the sound does not irritate, the keys barely hit the substrate. So with it you can easily play imperceptibly at night, being with someone in the same room.

In general, HyperX has an excellent successor to the flagship keyboard with incredible steep RGB-backlight and custom settings with proprietary software. Of course, you can find flaws in the form of "cheap" legs or the upper plastic part, but you can close your eyes to all this thanks to the pleasant materials of the case, stylish design and ease of use of the keyboard. Looking at all this, you understand that the price of almost 12 thousand rubles for this masterpiece is fully justified. Although I would like to be cheaper, of course.
