In the modern world, traditional desktops are starting to lose ground and give way to thin laptops and other mobile devices. Progress is unstoppable, but at the expense of it we are starting to lose something important - the art of modding. However, thanks to people like Hiroto Ikeuchi, this art continues to live.

The Japanese designer spent almost a year on a project that became somewhat more than just decorating a computer case. The man created from the ordinary glands whole diorama. A real detailed staging of weekdays of soldiers during an improvised third world war unfolded around the computer.

Ikeuchi himself calls the diorama a “secret base” and says that anime-paintings like Gundam and Macross inspired him to create this masterpiece. Each surface of the computer contains some detail from the difficult life of the soldiers of the future: some check military cards, others clean their equipment, others read letters from loved ones and dream of returning home one day. Each figure is made and installed in such a way that it does not seem superfluous and fits well into the overall appearance of the computer. At the top of the system unit is a disassembled DSLR camera that performs the role of a local laser gun.

Ikeuchi modding does not end with a system unit. The surroundings and peripherals around the computer with the same incredible appearance attracts attention and does not allow to miss every detail. You literally want to see everything and certainly touch it - like a child who has just been presented with a new toy. An unusual design of miniature scaffolding is installed on the keyboard, a tank is used as a mouse (the solution is not the most ergonomic, but it looks just great). A standard USB flash drive here looks like a futuristic artillery mount.

At the moment, Ikeuchi's work is in the Ars Electronica Center Museum in Austria, but Ikeuchi says that the modding of this system has not yet been completed.

“Only the most important things are installed. In Japan, sold an insane variety of plastic figures. Here you can buy and do whatever you want. ”
